Individualized Treatment Radio Interview with Dr. Simon Wang:

 Approaches to Catered Treatments and Organic Diagnosis in Patient Care

 In December, Randy Reid interviewed Dr. Simon Wang on his show Pump You Up at CHRY, on the topic of approaches to catered treatments and organic diagnosis in patient care.

He describes how the process of coming up with a diagnosis and effective treatment plan involves much more than just asking the patient questions.  “I rely heavily on communication,” explained Dr. Wang.  “Not only what [the patient] is saying but also on non-verbal cues – things that they do, ways that they move, how they describe something and their facial expression when they are describing it – all goes into an idea of what I think is going on”.  The information from the patient is used to guide his exam and testing. Matching special testing to hands on palpation helps to locate which muscle, joint, bone, tendon, ligament, nerve is involved, and the amount of damage done.

This is how he and other chiropractors are able to come up with individualized treatment plans for their patients.  The process of testing, monitoring and re-testing is very important to make sure the patient is responding as they should to the treatment plan.  If they are not getting better as quickly as they should, the diagnosis and treatment plan are updated to ensure success.

On the topic of preventative treatment, Dr. Wang stressed the importance of education,

 “There is no prevention without education.”  He points out that practitioners have to find out what the patient is doing in their life that has caused the problems that we are seeing now.  Prevention not only comes by eliminating the causes of their injury but by also strengthening and stabilizing the area so it is better able to adapt to future challenges.
